No sound out of Rear speakers using Roketfish RF-WHTIB

I have followed the directions to the letter... even tested the sound from the System to make sure it was sending it to the transmitter and it was.  The units have connected ... but I still don't have any sound.  I rewired the speakers with thinner wire think maybe that as a problem... Still no go.  I am using a JBL Surround speaker system Sat 10 with 8 ohms nominal and using a OnKyo TX-SV444 Audio video control receiver 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms, or 60 watts to front three channels plus 20 watts per channel for surround.  I am not sure what I might try... spent lots of time and it just hasn't worked....

Rocketfish RF-WHTIB no sound on rear speakers with Onkyo 809

I hooked this up to Onkyo 809 and i got no sound, it connected ok, but no sound came from the speakers and after a while I would get the an error on the onkyo saying speaker wire error and both units would shut down, I connected the speaker straight to the amp and played correctly but when I hooked rf-whtib it shut down, any ideas?

Re: Rocketfish RF-WHTIB no sound on rear speakers with Onkyo 809

Hi ... well I just posted and then saw that you had the same brand of (ONKYO) system and you couldn't get your sound to work.  I have tried everything with no luck... spent a lot of time and usually have no problem with this kind of thing... but maybe it is our system that isn't combatable.  If I  don't hear anything I will spend another hour boxing it for the return to best buy.  Did you ever get yours to work?

Re: Rocketfish RF-WHTIB no sound on rear speakers with Onkyo 809

Hello,

Welcome to Community@ Rocketfish™!

I would be happy to assist if you could please answer a few questions for me:

  1. Which surround outputs are you attempting to use with the wireless unit? Surround L/R or Surround Back L/R?
  2. What impedance setting do you have the speakers set to?
  3. Did you use the Audyssey set up or manually configure the speaker settings?

Re: Rocketfish RF-WHTIB no sound on rear speakers with Onkyo 809

I Have the same problem.  I checked all the connections many times, I have a Yamaha receiver.  How disapointing!!!  The manual has nothing in it that tells you what to do.  No comments in the manual on compatibility issues whatsoever.  I will take it back to Best Buy tomorrow.  Poor quality, terrible user manual from Rocketfish.  Never again for me to buy anything from Rocketfish.  I have to warn my frioends not wo waste their time.  If there are compatibility issues, they should be in the manual.

Re: Rocketfish RF-WHTIB no sound on rear speakers with Onkyo 809

I have the Onkyo TX-NR709 Amp, and have this RF wireless kit for the rear speakers. The front, center, and subwoofer, all work fine(hard wired to amp), however, like others, the rear speakers don't work. The light is solid on the reciever, so I know it's getting a signal. Both reciever and transmitter also have power. I have the transmitter connected to my amp via the 'Surround L/R' plugs, but I have also tried them on the Surround Back L/R plugs.  The Speaker impedance is set to 6 Ohms, the only other option being 4 ohms. I used the Audyssey microphone to set up the speakers. I would appreciate any help in the matter... thanks!

Hello Morbaag,

Welcome to Community@ Rocketfish™!

I assume but want to confirm that the speakers work if connected directly to the receiver.

Re: Rocketfish RF-WHTIB no sound on rear speakers with Onkyo 809

I'm currently at work, and haven't verified that they work properly when directly plugged into the amp... because I can hear sound coming from it (like a typical hum from a speaker) and it doesn't seem plausible that both rear speakers would stop working at same time...

Re: No sound out of Rear speakers using Roketfish RF-WHTIB

Much like everyone else, I'm having the same issue with my setup as well.  I too have the RF-WHTIB kit.  I'm using the kit to run my surround left and right speakers.  I KNOW those speakers work.  I've disconnected everything and ran the surround speakers straight off of the amplifier, and the speakers work.  The surround speakers are 80W at 6 ohms.  The amplifier is a 5.1 KOSS DVD/Tuner with two AV inputs, (model KS3102).

When the kit is connected, the transmitter and receiver connect.  I know this as the red LEDs go solid.  There's absolutely NO SOUND from the surround speakers.  No hiss, no hum, no nothing.

As the others are saying, is there a compatibility issue here?  Ideally, the kit should work.  Take the amp's output, transmit it, recieve it, then hear it.

Please advise.

Thanks.
